16.04.2005 Sub: Testing of samples of turmeric powder for Sudan I - IV. Ref: Circulars of even No. dated 9.10.2003, 12.11.2003, 4.12.2003, 03.03.2005 and 28.03.2005. The various provisions contained in the above referred Circulars in so far as they refer to the mandatory sampling of consignments of chilli products/food products containing chilli products and the procedures relating to the sampling, the analysis thereof for the presence of Sudan I - IV, the procedures for supervised containerization of sampled material, the requirement of producing a certificate from Spices Board to the effect that the export consignment from which the sample was drawn is free from Sudan I - IV and fit to be exported, before the cargo is Customs cleared, also shall henceforth apply mutatis mutandis to turmeric powder exported from India subject to the condition that they shall apply to all exports of turmeric powder taking place on or after 1st May 2005 to destinations in the EU., USA, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Japan and to other destinations with effect from the date to be notified hereafter.
