2005 May 26, 2005 CIRCULAR
The stipulation that no consignment of chillies, chilli products or other food products containing chilli products in whatsoever form shall be exported unless a certificate is issued by the Spices Board to the effect that the consignment does not contain Aflatoxin beyond acceptable levels and therefore is fit for export to the intended destination was made applicable with effect from 10.03.2005 with respect to shipments to the EU, US and Middle East destinations and additionally to Australia and New Zealand with effect from 28.03.2005.
With effect from 28.05.2005, Canada and Japan are also included in this category. Consignments of chilli/chilli products or other food products containing chilli products in whatsoever form will be cleared for export to EU, USA/Canada, Japan, Middle East countries, Australia and New Zealand only on submission of analytical report issued by the Spices Board to the effect that the consignment does not have presence of Aflatoxin beyond acceptable levels.
In case of shipments of chilli products/food products containing chilli products to all destinations other than those specified above, only certificate as per earlier circular of even number dated 9.9.2004, to the effect that the sample has been drawn from the export consignment by the Spices Board/authorized agency, need be submitted. The date from which submission of analytical report will be made compulsory with respect to these destinations will be notified later.
With respect to chilli powder/chilli products/food products containing chilli, analytical report from the Spices Board to the effect that the product is free of Sudan, is compulsory for all destinations with effect from 10.03.2005 as per our circular of even number dated 7.03.2005.
