All Exporters of Chillies/Chilli Products to South Africa
The Department of Health, Republic of South Africa, Pretoria has fixed Aflatoxin levels at 5ppb for Aflatoxin B1 and 10 ppb for Total Aflatoxin [same as EU norms]. While exporting chillies/chilli products to South Africa, please ensure that the product conforms to the above quality specifications. The Quality Evaluation Laboratory of the Spices Board will issue "cleared for exports" to South Africa, only if the Aflatoxin levels are with in the prescribed limit, i.e. 5ppb for Aflatoxin B1 and 10ppb for Total Aflatoxin.
These norms will be implemented with effect from 1st May, 2006.
