Spice Park - Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh

This is the first Spice Park established by Spices Board at Lass Village of Umranala, Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. The Spice Park is developed in an area of 10 acres of land and is mainly meant for the Spices like Chilli and Garlic. Board had developed all basic infrastructures like Road, Water Supply system, Power Station, Weighing Bridge, warehousing, Guest House, Canteen facilities etc within the Park. The Spices processing facilities installed in the Spice Park are at par with the international standards. The higher end processing plants installed include Dehydration Plant for Garlic with capacity 6T per day, Extraction Plant for Chilli with capacity 3T per day, ETP system etc. The Park is developed under the ASIDE Scheme of Government of India at a total cost of Rs. 20.00 Crore.

Processing facilities Established

The details of the processing facilities are as follows

(a) Dehydration Plant for Garlic : Capacity – 6 Tons/Day

  1. Decoticator : The material is fed to the elevator which lifts the material to the hopper. The garlic bulbs are broken into cloves with the machine and a blower, which removes the skin. It consist of 10 H.P. motor and has a capacity of 24 Tons/day
  2. Grading Machine: This consists of a round cross-section made up of MS plate, which revolves to separate the cloves in different sizes. The capacity of the system is 24 Tons per day
  3. Flaking Machine: This is a S.S. roll machine consist of 2 rolls rotating in the opposite direction to punch the garlic cloves to required thickness.
  4. Continuous Belt Dryer: It is a continuous 5 belt dryer with different temperature zones ranging from 40-60 Degree centigrade where the material is dehydrated by hot air method having capacity of 3 Tons/day
  5. Skin Removing Machine: This consists of brushes where the material is fed to the hopper and the brushes and the brushes rotate. The skin of the garlic is removed & is blown off with the help of blower.
  6. Gravity Separator: This machine separates the small & broken pieces of dehydrated garlic and the unwanted particles are removed.
  7. Bin Dryer: This helps in equalizing the moisture for maintaining the uniformity of the moisture in the product.
  8. Sorting Machine: Sorting is done manually to remove the impurities.
  9. Magnetic Separator: The material passes through magnetic separator for removing any iron pieces etc.
  10. Packing: Packed in double poly bags put in export worthy corrugated carton.

In addition to the facilities developed by Spices Board in the Spice Park, M/s. STCL, a subsidiary of the State Trading Corporation (STC) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has established a chilli processing unit and a steam sterilization unit within the Spice Park. Currently the commercial operation of all these facilities are entrusted to M/s. A-Tech Engineering Pvt. Limited.

1 Chilly Processing unit

  • a Pre- Cleaning facility: Rotating Perforated drum, waste collection tray, 3HP suction blower, Nylon brushes, cyclone tank,1000 Liter Feed Hopper, pipe stand, feed pipe and connector to hammer mill etc.
  • b Grinding facility : Hammer Mill with liner, beaters with carbide tip, blower, cyclone dust collector, sieves, rotary air lock valve, MS Basement, Contact parts in SS and remaining in MS. For pre grinding, 25HP motor to drive Hammer mill and 5 HP motor to drive Blower. For fine grinding, 50 HP motor to drive Hammer mill and 7.5 HP motor to drive Blower is used.
  • c Dust Collection System& Dust Free Environment
  • d Packing facility : VFFS Collar Type Packing Machine Pneumatically operated type, collar type pouch forming, vertical and horizontal sealing, batching and date code arrangement, servomotor, heating coil - 1500 W.
