In order to generate planting materials
required for Large Cardamom expansion in North Eastern States ( 1700 ha.)
during the X Plan, Board proposed to produce planting materials through
Large Cardamom Certified Nurseries. |

Interested farmers will be selected by the Board’s
Officials with the help of State Horticulture / Agriculture Department,
NGOs etc. |

Applications are to be submitted to the nearest Field
Office in the prescribed format by interested farmers. |
||||

Spices Board will arrange required seeds and provide
training to the farmers in the maintenance of cardamom nursery. |

First installment of subsidy would be paid at the
rate of Rs. 4,000/- immediately after the germination is completed, provided
there is a stand of 15,000 primary seedlings. The cost of seeds would
be deducted from the first installment. |

Payment will be proportionate to the stand of primary
seedlings in the nursery. |

Second installment at the rate of Rs. 6,000/- would
be paid provided there is a stand of 12,000 established seedlings in the
secondary nursery. Third installment of Rs. 10,000/- would be paid provided
10,000 nos. of standard seedlings / planting units are produced and supplied
to the Board or to the farmer / agency authorized by the Board to receive
the seedlings. If the no. of seedlings produced and supplied is less than
10,000 nos., proportionate amount of subsidy, i.e Rs. 2/- per seedling
will be paid. |

If there are any excess seedlings, he/she can use
it for own use or Board would procure at the rate of Rs. 2/- per seedlings
per planting unit, in case it is needed. |

The work in the nursery should be carried out according
to the standards prescribed by the Spices Board and NSOP. The farmer should
fully co-operate with the Spices Board and strictly follow the instructions
issued by the Board’s Officials. |
