ORGANIC FARMING

 

Board proposes to assist NGOs, farmers’ co-operative societies/associations developing organic spice production & processing and in acquiring certification for their farms/processing units by meeting 50% of the cost of the certification subject to a maximum of Rs.0.75 lakhs. Individual farmers and processors will be eligible to get 50% of the cost of certification subject to a maximum of Rs.25, 000/- per certification. Assistance will be available to the beneficiaries not more than twice during the X plan period.


To enable growers to produce organic inputs in their own farms, Spices Board provides Rs.1000/- as grant-in-aid per vermi compost unit

Paprika like Chillies:
 

Because of high colour value, Paprika like chillies has great demand in the extraction industry. To expand its cultivation Board provides a subsidy of Rs.3750/- per ha.

   
Other Spices:
 

Spices like Ginger, Turmeric, Chilli and Kokkam are suitable for organic cultivation in Maharashtra, Orissa, Chattisgarh, Uttaranchal and Bihar. Similarly, organic farming of cumin, fennel, fenugreek, coriander and dill have large scope in Gujarat and Rajasthan. To motivate the growers to adopt organic farming in the above crops, Spices Board extends assistance to the tune of Rs.3750/- per ha.
