The programme aims to exploit the medicinal, cosmetic, and nutritional and health values of spices and offers support for: |
Utilization of the services of national
or international research institutes for developing new spice products/applications
or for establishing commonly accepted non-traditional values |

In-house research programmes by entities with sufficient
infrastructure facilities irrespective of whether they are exporters or
not as long as there is potential for export earnings from the research
effort |

Clinical trials to establish and validate claimed
therapeutic properties of spices through reputed third parties whose findings
are recognized in target countries, and |
|
Patenting and product registration in consuming countries
after successful research, development and validation. |
Financial assistance will be to the
tune of 90% of the cost of the project subject to a ceiling of Rs.1.00
crore per project involving research, clinical trials and patenting. The
ceiling for the research component alone will be Rs.25.00 lakhs. |
