Brazilian Trade enquiries for seed spices
Contrary to expectations, seed spices are found to have good market potential in Brazil. Fairly good enquiries for seed spices, extracts and blends were recorded at the Board’s stand in the recently concluded ‘Fispal Food Service Show 2008’ exhibition held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The major items of interest were for cumin, mustard, fennel and Sesame. Good interests were also registered for spices powders, spice blends and extracts. This is for the first time that the Spices Board had participated in the ‘Fispal Food Service Show 2008’ which is an International exhibition of food, drinks, hotel, restaurant and food service equipment, supplies, services & related technology held at the Export Center Norte, Sao Paulo.

The Brazilian food service market is experiencing an explosive growth and offers excellent business opportunity for exporters. Fispal Food Service provided the ideal setting for exhibitors to initiate or expand their business relationships with importers, distributors and operators. At Fispal Food Service the food service divisions of the main companies exhibited their products and the food and beverages industry got together in an intense way with all the distribution channels in this segment: restaurants, bakeries, bars, snack bars, fast-food chains, ice cream parlors, general food stores, supermarkets, convenience stores, catering and collective meal companies, hotels, motels, clinics and health spas, industrial kitchens, buffets and public institutions.

The Board’s participation in the Exhibition was organized by, Shri. Roy Joseph and Shri. V. J. Joseph, Assistant Directors, Spices Board. M/s. Sanjay Vivek Trading Company, Mumbai, had participated in the exhibition through the Board’s pavilion. The display of wide variety of Indian spices in the pavilion attracted agents, brokers and distributors. Buyers form the households and restaurants sector have enquired about the availability of quality Indian Spices and spice mixes in consumer pack.
